작품 상세

Important bronze relief of American artist Francis Davis Millet, executed by famed sculptor St. Gaudens (American, 1848-1907). Modeled in 1879, this piece was likely a present from St. Gaudens, who -- along with Mark Twain -- attended Millet's wedding. A hugely important American artist and sculptor, St. Gaudens is perhaps most universally known for the U.S. $20 gold piece of his design. Millet was quite an accomplished painter and sculptor in his own right who died, along with 1,600 others, aboard the Titanic, April 15, 1912. This plaque measures about 10-1/2" x 6-3/4".
