Jonathan Meese (born 1970) Jonathan Meese was born in 1970 in Tokyo and moved in the mid-seventies with his German mother to Hamburg. He started studying at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg in the class of Franz Erhard Walther, however, he decided to leave the university after three years. Amongst his early patrons were the Berlin based gallery Contemporary Fine Arts and the artist Daniel Richter. Meese took part in the first Berlin Biennale. Die Deichtorhallen Hamburg haben 2006 im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Mama Johnny" einen umfassenden Stand seines Gesamtwerkes verzeichnet.
