Two autographed copies of the first page of 'Birth of the Atomic Age' by Joseph F. Papalia, one copy is signed by GEORGE CARON (1919-1994) Tail gunner of the famed B-29 bomber Enola Gay. Facing the rear of the B-29, Caron was the first to see the mushroom cloud. The second excerpt is signed by RICHARD H. NELSON (1925-2003) youngest crew member of the Enola Gay and radio operator on the historic bombing mission. Each one page, light mailing folds, 8.5 x 11 inches. Joseph Papalia is an official historian of the 509th Composite Group, the US Army Air Force unit created specifically for dropping atomic bombs during World War II.
