작품 상세
Autograph Letter Signed (“Renoir”), 2 pp, 8vo (conjoining leaves), Cagnes, May 22, 1914, to a friend of his son Jean, leaf tipped at edges to mat, matted with the etching “Femme nue couchee (tournee a droite),” 2e planche, c.1906 (Stella 14), to 19 by 28 inches. Renoir pens this letter to a young friend of his son Jean, offering advice. In part (translated): “… we hope that you are not going to embark for far away lands at your age. If it’s all they can offer you, it is not much. It’s exactly what the others don’t want. For Jean, I think that something has to be done before the changing of the ministry. What should be done, I don’t know. The important thing is not to make a change for the worse … on the other hand, I would be very pleased to have him not so far from Paris. Talk to him about it….”
