In the center of the bowl is the Tôshôgû Mausoleum in Nikkô with environs. Along the interior rim of the bowl is a border of the stylized Tokugawa family crest and chevrons. The exterior of the bowl features flying apsaras holding instruments. Signed Bijitsu hin dai ô Dai Nihon Satsuma Hododa Shizandô and with Shimazu family crest on the verso. Condition The Satsuma bowl is in very good condition with very slight signs of wear consistent with age. The gilded surface is preserved in excellent condition.
