Each side is decorated with an alternating pair of painted panels, one with a beautiful seasonal landscape and a figurative scene on the other. Total of twelve panel reserves divided into two registers. Shoulder is adorned with thoroughly decorated phoenixes and bottom with a band of irises. This piece features a splendid interplay of colors and is an example of the finest Japanese workmanship. Vertical Impressed mark of Taizan on the recessed underside. Condition The vase is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The painting work and gilding has a very minor rubbing.
