Bauer, M.A.J. (1867-1932). Straatje in Damascus. Etching, 1933, 23,2x15,3 cm., signed twice in the plate (1x vague), on Japanese. = Rare. Earlier/ first (?) state of Van Wisselingh Supplement 296 (one of the 6 posthumously printed etchings). Not mentioned in Van Wisselingh catalogue. With many differences, i.a. the boy in front of the donkey, the sitting figure to the right and the dress of the woman carrying a basket on her head. Annotation on verso: 'Eerste staat, proefdruk door G. van Raay niet gepubliceerd". With the collector's mark of J.H. Jurriaanse (Lugt 1403b).
