A painting by Ram Kumar (born 1924), titled "Labyrinth of a Town", oil on canvas, signed Kumar Ram and dated 1964. Gallery label on the back. Framed. Ram Kumar, born in Shimla, belonged to the PAG (Progressive Artists´ Group, also known as the Bombay Progressives), which was founded in 1947 by Francis Newton Souza and M.F. Hussain, among others. The group wished to encourage a break with the traditions of Indian art, and look to the future in order to express the reality of Indian life in a new, modern way.
