19th C Nettur Petti / Malabar wedding box or dowry chest, originating from Kerala, India.  Featuring a distinct pyramidal lid designed to resemble temple roofs. Adorned with intricate, hand-forged brass or bronze fittings, including decorative locks and studs.  Measuring 10.5 inches W x 8.5 H x 7.5 deep. These boxes were typically used by affluent families to store jewelry and bridal dowries.
