The identification of Yellow River in the work immediately orientates one's eye to anything yellow and in serpentine passage. The place is Lanzhou, literally ‘Orchid Hills', lying on the banks of the great Huang He, China's Yellow River, in Gansu province. In 2012, the place was undergoing renewal from the effects of pollution from over-development but in 2015, it was awarded China's most progressive in environmental change. Shapes, lines and colours would dictate the mood and nature, and Rafiee Ghani orchestrated the colours of place to its most gorgeous efflorescence. The topography here, with mountain and sky in the far distance, is more ‘readable' despite its abstract underpinnings.
