Starting out as an apprentice machinist before landing a job as an assistant curator for an art gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Maamor Jantan received his initial introduction here to the world of visual arts and its artists. It was only after meeting the inimitable Khalil Ibrahim in 1984 and studying under him for more than a decade that he ventured into art.
