Watercolourist Ong Kim Seng has an eye for detail, reflected in this detailed rendition of heritage shophouses. At a distance lies a modern, boxy architecture (skyscraper). One wonders how long these heritage buildings will last, before progress inevitably comes knocking... A full-time artist since 1985, Ong Kim Seng has participated in group and solo exhibitions at Singapore and in the United States, China, United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Belgium, Germany, France, Middle East, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and ASEAN. He is the first and only Singaporean (and incidentally, the only Asian) to have won six awards by the prestigious 138-year-old American Watercolour Society (AWS), of which he was conferred membership in 1992.
