Brass, hammered, opal glass, iridescent, blue fusings Austria, 1900 Design: presumably Kolo Moser or circle (1868-1918) - actually Koloman Moser, Austrian painter, graphic artist and craftsman Design: Bohemian manufactory Shades arranged in staggered height Vaulted ceiling plate made of hammered brass Fabric cable with three decorative balls made of opal glass Height adjustable Electrified with 8 lights Height: 115 cm Diameter: 70 cm Good Condition Decorative ceiling lamp with teardrop-shaped shades in iridescent opal glass with blue dot infusions This elegant ceiling lamp was presumably designed by Koloman Moser or his circle.The vaulted ceiling panel is made of hammered brass, the decorative balls made of opal glass. The eight teardrop-shaped shades are made of opal glass that is iridescent pale and shows an interesting sliding structure. They are decorated with blue dots, a characteristic feature which often can be found in Moser's work. The lights are arranged at different heights creating an elegant effect. The lamp is electrified with 8 lights. The lengths of each fabric cable can be customized. The lamp is 115 cm long and has a diameter of 70 cm. It is in good overall condition with some signs of age and wear. One shade with stress crack and another chipping at the edge, which is not visible in the suspended state. Koloman Moser (1868-1918) Koloman Moser was born in Vienna in 1868. He studied from 1886-1893 at the Academy of Fine Arts, among others under Franz Rumpler, Christian Griepenkerl and Matthias von Trenkwald. He also created illustrations for magazines such as the 'Meggendorfer-Blätter'. From 1893-95 he also attended art school where he later worked as a teacher. Moser was co-founder of the Vienna Secession in 1897. His artistic environment included the painters Carl Moll, Ferdinand Hodler and Cuno Amiet.
