Hailing from Charleston South Carolina Coffin attended art school in Washington D.C. and later moved on to being an illustrator for The Saturday Evening Post in New York City. He also spent a period of time in France. These room dividers, see the additional in this same auction are truly works of art and are slightly unusual for Haskell. These are a discovery from the original Florida local family, truly they are Arts And Crafts gems with some Hudson River Valley influence. Panels show mellowed varnish, some discoloration, light craquelure, scattered surface abrasions, scattered gilt loss and heavy gilt craquelure.
