Pair of Gold Frames (Am. 19th century) Pair of Mid-19th Century Gold Frames Gilt wood Pair of mid-nineteenth century American Rococo Revival gilt composition portrait frames, each with an oval sight opening within a rectangular format. One has old Vose Galleries label for a Christian Gullagher portrait of Mrs. Benjamin Parrott Homer, and one has an old Vose Galleries label for a Christian Gullagher portrait of Mr. Benjamin Parrott Homer. Both have Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, CT, exhibition labels. Inscription and date by frame-maker inside at one corner of 'Mrs. Homer' frame: "Dixon, Boston May 1846" 1) 30 1/8" x 25 1/8" with oval sight 28 1/2" x 23 3/8"; 2) 30 1/2" x 25 1/4" with oval sight 28 5/8" x 23 5/8" Provenance: By inheritance to Collection of Abbot W. and Marcia L.
