GERMAN 'MOTTO' WOOD PLAQUES (4) Lot of 4 hand-made German painted plaques with German metaphors, all ca. 1950s to 1970s and bearing traditional German mottos, humorous quips, and advice, etc. One plaque, rectangular in shape, 16 in. x 8.5 in., in walnut colored veneer wood grain finish with text in gold wood cut outs 'Gesundheit, Liebe, ein Wenig Geld... und Zeit zum Geniessen (Health, love, a little money... and time to enjoy) , Three others in the diagonal pine tree cut plaques with sayings such as 'Nur kleine Geister brauchen Ordnung, ein Genie beherrscht das Chaos. (Only small minds need order, a genius masters chaos.), another classic features a bier stein with 'Drinking orders', and the fourth a humorous plaque featuring a cute pig 'Das Schwein' which outlines the many traits of a pig. As these were displayed in a restaurant, almost all carry some dust and minor loss to bark and finish in places. Overall very good to fine condition.
