A Chinese Dao characteristic of the Niuweidao variety, with its curved, double-fullered blade ending in a widened point and its carved horn grip curving opposite to the direction of the blade. The grip is mounted with a circular guard and a semi-circular pommel as well as florally shaped rivets, all of brass. The sword is kept within a scabbard wrapped in blackened leather and affixed with brass mounts and a leather carrying strap. China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century.
