Netherlands, late 16th century, likely a fragment of a larger panel, landscape game park scene with a foreground of real and fantastical animals, including a griffin, parrots, dragon, and a hare, background river or sea, with men, dogs, and horses engaged in a stag hunt, bridge, a boat, and a structure on an island, hunt or battle scene with men on horses and dogs, fallen man in the center holds a shield, narrow border of yellow and black wool, 87 x 106 in. (7 ft. 3 in. x 8 ft. 10 in.) Provenance: Probably acquired in New York, NY in the 1920s by Warren J. Smadbeck of New York; 1965, inherited from Warren J.
