작품 상세
ALDO TURA (Italy, 1909-1963). Jug, 1950s. Rosewood and brass. It shows marks of use and wear and tear caused by the passage of time. Measurements: 34 x 10 cm (diameter). This jug is a great example of the artistic work of Aldo Tura, whose aesthetic language oscillated between Art Deco and modernism. His works, as is evident in this jug, were characterised by the use of rich materials, sculptural forms and artisanal techniques. Aldo Tura began his career in experimental furniture design in the 1930s. After the sharp, angular forms of Art Deco, wood began to be used in free forms, full of curves, and Tura saw in this new taste a new direction for furniture design. His work is a significant combination of free and uninhibited forms, sometimes exceptionally ironic. His designs are also examples of the highest craftsmanship, often produced in limited edition series, or even just a prototype. In the 1950s, Tura discovered the evocative charm of furniture painted with Venetian architectural views, and also began to experiment with a variety of materials, such as eggshell, parchment, goatskin and wood veneers.
