A pair of brass and iron fire dogs, in Baroque style, circa 1900, each with a flame finial above a sphere, waisted stem and an interlaced scrolling and acanthus cast stem, each 76cm high, 40cm wide, 81cm deep. Depicted in an oil painting by Frank Moss Bennett (1874-1953) of the interior of Bradninch Manor in Devon, painted in 1905, which features the featured firedogs in the fireplace. The vendor lived at Bradninch Manor sometime in the 1960s.
