Tiffany & Co. Renaissance Revival Architectural Mantel Clock France, circa 1885–1900 Impressive late 19th century Renaissance Revival architectural mantel clock retailed by Tiffany & Co., New York. The stepped hardwood case, likely walnut or oak, modeled as a classical tower and lavishly embellished with finely cast gilt-bronze mounts throughout, including corner busts, scrolling foliate galleries, caryatid supports, and figural relief panels. The upper platform is surmounted by a standing classical warrior finial, raised above four caryatid figures beneath a pierced canopy. The silvered Roman numeral chapter ring encircles a brass center, housing a spring-driven mechanical movement stamped “Tiffany & Co. New-York” to the rear plate. The lower case is applied with a central gilt-bronze relief panel depicting an equestrian figure, flanked by floral panels, all raised on a molded bronze plinth base. specialist note: A highly architectural and visually commanding example reflecting the grand decorative tastes of America’s Gilded Age, retailed by Tiffany & Co. for an elite New York clientele.
