A Brown Jade Ornament Carved with a Divine Mask, Shijiahe Culture, ca. 2500–2000 BC. Of rectangular form with a slightly convex surface, carved in high relief with a divine mask beneath a tall headdress, and pierced with top and lateral holes. The stone bears heavy alteration and a rich brown patina. Such mask ornaments are characteristic of Shijiahe ritual imagery and likely served a symbolic or ceremonial function.
