A Jade Bird-Shaped Ornament, Hongshan Culture, ca. 4700-2900BC. Carved from pale green jade with russet alteration, the stylized bird is shown with outstretched wings and a square head pierced for suspension. Two drilled holes remain on the reverse. The surface shows soft polish and burial alteration typical of Hongshan jade.
