A Rare Celadon Jade Openwork Plaque Carved with a Mask Motif, Shang Dynasty (circa 13th–11th Century BC) Carved from a single piece of celadon jade, the plaque is pierced and decorated with a powerful mask motif, the eyes beneath heavy brows flanked by symmetrical scroll-like horns. A heart-shaped aperture forms the central opening, while the lower section is embellished with elongated, curving appendages. The jade shows subtle alteration consistent with age.
