Late Qing Dynasty, A Finely Embroidered Child’s Cap with Jade and Pearl Inlay Materials: Silk, embroidery, jade, pearls, coral, glass beads, gilt thread, cotton lining. A red silk child’s cap embroidered with floral motifs and embellished with jade plaques, pearls, and coral beads. The front is mounted with carved green jade and a pink stone, flanked by red tassels. Lined with pink cotton for warmth, such caps were made for children of well-to-do families in the late Qing period as charms for protection and longevity.
