Ming Dynasty, Ca. 14th-17th century AD. A finely cast gold yuanbao ingot of saddle form, with slightly flared ends and a smooth, hammered surface. The interior bears a crisply engraved inscription reading「洪武拾年 九成色金」 (“Hongwu 10th Year, gold of nine-tenths purity”), indicating production under the reign of the Hongwu Emperor (r. 1368–1398).
