A VERY FINE BLUE AND WHITE 'RIDING THE ELEPHANT' BRUSHPOT, BITONG Chongzhen The tall cylindrical vessel rising from a flat base, the exterior painted with a boldly rendered elephant, its hide articulated in rhythmic 'thumbprint' whorls, the mahout reclining languidly atop its back, all set within a landscape of stepped rocks and V-tick grasses, enclosed between incised borders above and below. 16.4cm (6 1/2in) high.
