AN EXTRAORDINARY AND RARE POLYCHROME AND GILT-DECORATED WOOD FIGURE OF 'WATER-MOON' GUANYIN Song Dynasty Superbly carved, the bodhisattva gracefully seated in the posture of Royal Ease upon a reticulated rocky throne, adorned with beaded jewellery and draped in robes, a shawl, and a dhoti, all skilfully arranged across the shoulders and elegantly cascading in soft pleats down the legs to the throne, the face in a gracious and tranquil demeanor, with the hair gathered into a high chignon behind an elaborate diadem, fitted box. 47 cm high (2).
