AFTER QIU YING Leisure in Autumn Mountains after Zhao Boju (1120-1182) Horizontal handscroll, ink and mineral pigments on silk, inscribed signed Shifu Qiu Ying with two artist's seals and a total of twenty-two collector's seals, mounted with colophons signed Lu Shidao and Wang Yangdu (early to mid 19th century), the latter dated Daoguang guisi (1833) and signed Yangdu with two calligrapher's seals, the exterior titleslip also by Wang Yangdu, signed Mengquan with a calligrapher's seal, the scroll accompanied by a handwritten letter from Hsien Wu (1893-1959) to its then owner, Mr. A. Shepard, dated 28 June 1950, a three-page printed translation of the two colophons and the titleslip by Hsien Wu, bearing his handwritten annotations and signature, and a handwritten translation of the biographies of Qiu Ying and Zhao Boju by Hsien Wu's daughter, dated December 1950. 12 1/4 x 171in (31 x 436cm), the painting only, exclusive of the colophons
