CHINA, LATE 19th - EARLY 20th CENTURY Figure of Amitāyus Gilt bronze, patinated bronze throne base The Buddha Amitāyus is depicted seated in meditation posture (padmāsana), hands clasped in dhyānamudrā holding the kalasha vase, symbol of longevity. The lotiform base is surmounted by an imposing openwork throne base in dark bronze, decorated with dragons, chimeras and floral motifs in the Sino-Tibetan iconographic tradition.
