CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19th CENTURY Figure of Songzi Guanyin Gilded bronze Seated in a posture of relaxation (lalitasana) on a base depicting a rock rising from the waves, the deity holds a ritual vase in her left hand, her right hand in a gesture of donation (varadamudra). Dressed in a flowing robe with soft folds, she wears a high chignon adorned with a frontal medallion. This representation corresponds to Songzi Guanyin, a benevolent form of the goddess of compassion, invoked for the birth of a child.
