SERIAL NUMBER: NSN, BARREL: 44 3/4", CALIBER: .70 smooth bore, MFG: 1809-1812, Lock is marked J. Henry over Phila behind hammer and a partial stamp of an Federal Eagle over US under the pan. The breech is marked with an Eagle head over CT for Connecticut. This US Model 1808 Flintlock Musket was produced by John and William Henry in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The Henrys signed a contract to deliver 10,000 arms to the Schuykill Arsenal within 5 years. Records indicate they only delivered 4,014 by the end of 1812 and did not complete the contract. CONDITION: Good-Very Good. Mostly smooth metal as been cleaned to the white and is returning to patina. Appears to be original flintlock configuration. Lock action is crisp. Stock is full length and has impressions and handling marks. The butt stock has a small crack at the toe, and the forestock has a crack, and a small edge piece missing. The bore has frosting. The loading rod is a replacement. A nice example of this early American musket ANTIQUE
