SERIAL NUMBER: NSN, BARREL: 26" octagon , CALIBER: .60, MFG: 18th Century. Nice looking early flintlock short rifle with engraved brass and filigree inlays. Walnut stock with sliding brass decorated wood patchbox. Has two sling swivels on left side of stock. Adjustable rear sight and brass blade front sight. CONDITION: Good-Very Good. Barrel and lock have been cleaned and are now turning a brown patina. May be a re conversion, but hard to tell the way it has been cleaned. The action is crisp. There is a seam in the barrel 4" from the muzzle and it looks like the barrel was stretched or sleeved. You cannot tell from the bore which has deep rifling. There is some repair and refinishing in areas of the stock. The butt stock has a piece inset under the patch box. Overall a rare and great looking early firearm. ANTIQUE
