SN. 555. Cal. .44 Bore. Built in 1861, this best quality double stalking rifle built with 30" damascus brls that have wide flat rib fitted with express rear sights for 100, 200, 300, 400, & 500 yards and blade front sight. Rib is hand engraved "PATENT NO 160 GAUGE 451." and "ALEXR. HENRY 8 SOUTH ST ANDREW ST EDINBURGH". Fitted with ebony ram rod and damascus ferrules. Wedge fastened stock is checkered at fore with fully engraved tip. Lock plates are near full coverage engraved with scroll towards rear portion and game scene towards front of a lion hunting stags on right lock and tiger hunting stags on left lock. Locks are fitted with hammer safety catch. Trigger guard is very nicely engraved with dog hunting a stag on bow, SN towards center of tang. Hammers are nicely scroll engraved as is top tang. Straight grip walnut buttstock is point pattern checkered, has gold colored shield behind top tang, and terminates with its original engraved full steel buttplate. Right side of butt with near fully engraved patch box depicting large stag and scroll. Buttplate with tiger chasing stag on heel. All screws are engraved.
