dating: 18th/19th Century provenance: Italy, Round, smoothbore, two-stage, square and round barrel with rings at the girdle; the vent and the front part of the barrel have been restored. Beautiful Roman-style lock, decorated with floral motifs; hammer throw, springs and hammer with engravings and carvings en suite; internally marked ‘CELALBA’. Wooden full stock with a carved butt in the shape of a hound's head (of the ‘Chien de mer’ type). Silver mounts, trigger guard with a beautiful bust in relief within a medallion, silver ramrod pipes, faceted. Horn-tipped, wooden ramrod, not contemporary. Interesting composite pistol, the stock probably from the 19th century, the lock from the second half of the 18th century, the mounts from another pistol. length 40.5 cm.
