A 16 BORE BALKAN FLINTLOCK KUBUR PISTOL, ALBANIA, SECOND QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY with tapering barrel formed in three stages, retained by a broad silver muzzle band chiselled with flowers and foliage against a punched ground and enriched with niello (rubbed), the tang overlaid with a nielloed silver plaque grooved for sighting, bevelled lock with brass pan, full stock encased with nielloed silver against a punched ground decorated with a running pattern of flowers and foliage over the fore-end and the butt, the latter with integral pommel, matching trigger-guard, and simulated ramrod, and traces of gilding 28.0 cm; 11 in barrel This pistol is probably Central Albanian and derived from those made in Boka Kotorska in the Greek Romantic Revival style.
