Ⓐ TWO 18 BORE FLINTLOCK MAIL COACH PISTOLS BY H.W.MORTIMER, LONDON, GUNMAKERS TO HIS MAJESTY, NOS. 95 & 112, CIRCA 1810 AND AN 18 BORE FLINTLOCK LIVERY PISTOL BY KETLAND, WALKER & CO., CIRCA 1820 the first and second each with swamped brass barrel signed ~H. W. Mortimer & Son, Gunmakers to His Majesty~ and numbered on the flat (rubbed, indistinct), iron tang, signed stepped bevelled lock (rubbed, one legible the other with only traces, cocks and steel springs missing), fitted with bolt safety-catch, figured full stock (one fore-end chipped) and brass mounts of regulation type; and the third with tapering barrel struck with Ordnance marks at the breech, signed lock (cock, steel and spring missing), full stock and brass mounts of regulation type the first: 23.4 cm; 9 1/4 in barrel (3) For further information and details of the earliest payments made to Mortimer for the supply of these pistols (the first and second) see Wilkinson 2002, p. 120.
