This richly colored chromolithograph is from Charles Mason Hovey's The Fruits of America, containing richly colored figures, and full descriptions of all the choicest varieties cultivated in the United States. It was the first major work produced entirely by chromolithography. It's publication was intended to showcase the achievements of American pomologists.
