This exciting engraving was originally published as Plate XIV in Part IV of de Bry's Grands Voyages. It depicts a battle between Christopher Columbus and one of his caravel captains, Francisco Poresio, in Jamaica during Columbus's fourth voyage, in 1504. This edition was published in a compendium of De Bry's engravings of the Americas put out by his heir, Johann Theodore de Bry. On a sheet of German text measuring 8.9 x 13.0".
