I had come up river on a tow boat from New Orleans to Helena, Arkansas where I took a train to Little Rock. The train stopped over a road crossing and out of the window I saw this negro with his donkey cart on the hot dusty road. I made the drawing from the train window.”   Literature: Creekmore Fath, The Lithographs of Thomas Hart Benton, 2001 (third edition), University of Texas Press/ Alan Wofsy Fine Arts (San Francisco), 18.
