Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975) Slow Train through Arkansas, 1941 Lithograph on paper 12 ¾” x 10” (image) Edition of 250 Pencil-signed to the bottom right margin. Circulated by Associated American Artists, New York City. The sheet measures 12 ¼” x 14 ½” and the glazed frame measures 16 ¾" x 19 ¼". Of Slow Train through Arkansas, Benton wrote: “Illustrates one of the stories in the old joke book ‘Slow Train through Arkansas.’ This book was a popular sales item on most of the trains in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas in the days of my youth.
