Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975) Morning Train, 1943 Lithograph on Rives paper 13 ½" x 9 ½" (image) Edition of 250   Pencil-signed to the bottom right margin. Circulated by Associated American Artists, New York City. The sheet measures 11" x 15" and the glazed frame measures 18 ½" x 22 ½".   Of Morning Train, Benton wrote: “Soldier leaving a small plains town. This litho was also called 'going west' which in soldiers argot meant going to die. This secondary title was dropped during the war years.
