Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975) Night Firing, 1943 Lithograph on paper 13 ¼” x 8 ¾” (image) Edition of 250   Pencil-signed to the bottom right margin. Circulated by Associated American Artists, New York City. Alternate title: Tobacco Firing. The sheet measures 10 ¾” x 15 ¼” and the glazed frame measures 19 ½" x 23 ½".   Of Night Firing, Benton wrote: “Drawing made in 1943 in North Carolina - part of a series of the tobacco industry made at the request of American Tobacco Co. The shed is where the tobacco is dried out with night and day slow fires beneath.
