A Chinese Scroll Painting of Mountains and Rivers by Qian Wei Cheng (40.5 x 171cm) Qian Weicheng (1720-1772) was a Qing Dynasty official and painter. His initial name was Xinlai, his courtesy name was Zongpan, his courtesy name was You'an, his courtesy names were Xie'an and Chashan, and his later courtesy name was Jiaxuan. He was from Wujin, Jiangsu. In the tenth year of the Qianlong reign, he became the top scholar and was promoted to the position of Assistant Minister of Justice, with the posthumous title of Wenmin. Su Shi, a calligrapher, initially studied freehand brushwork, folding branches, flowers, and fruits from Chen Shuxue, and later learned landscape painting. With the guidance of Dong Bangda, he became a renowned artist and was enshrined in the imperial court as the leader of the painting garden. Once hunted with Emperor Qianlong in the Mulan enclosure, the emperor used a divine spear to kill every tiger and ordered Weicheng to draw and carve stone records. Authored 'Tea Mountain Collection'
