Antique engraving after Arthur William Devis, English (1762-1822). Engraved by William Bromley and published by Josiah Boydell, March 2, 1812. Titled "The Death of Horatio Viscount & Baron Nelson of the Nile", depicting the death of Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. Presented in an impressive gilt hand-carved period frame with image key and additional information mounted to a concealed sliding panel at bottom. Drop-down image key identifies each individual surrounding Lord Nelson as he lay dying after battle. Provenance from The Philadelphia Print shop on verso. Dimensions: (Frame) H 23" x W 28.25" (Sight) H 19" x W 24" Condition: Losses and damage to frame. Minor yellowing to print consistent with age.
