[Prints] Burgkmair, Hans (German, 1473-1531). Plate 86 and Plate 116 from "Der Weisskunig". 1775. Woodcuts on laid paper. Der Weisskunig was a chivalric novel and thinly disguised biography of Emperor Maximilian I featuring 251 woodcuts made between 1514 and 1516; the full work was not published until the blocks were rediscovered in 1775. Mats, each: 21 1/4" x 15 15/16". Sheets, each: 14 1/2" x 8 5/16". Provenance Includes label from Alden Galleries, Kansas City, MO. Condition Very good +.
