An 1885 Etching on Indian paper by Edwin Austin Abbey (American, 1852-1911). This was created as an illustration for an 1887 edition of Oliver Goldsmith's comedy play "She Stoops to Conquer". It depicts Marlow speaking to Hastings, before Miss Neville and Tony, speaking the line "Well it was done sir, to assist in rendering me ridiculous?". It is signed in plate on bottom right.
