Andreas Schulze (b. 1955) The Hanover-born artist Andreas Schulze focusses on painting, graphic work and installation art. He lives and works in Cologne. Schulze started his career in the 1970s studying at the university in Kassel and changed to the academy in Düsseldorf in 1978, where he was taught by professor Dieter Krieg. The artist received different awards such as Sprengel-Preis für Bildende Kunst or the Cologne Fine Art Prize in 2010. Since 2008 he has been Professor for painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His works are collected in different museums and public collections such as in Kunstmuseum Bonn, in Leopold-Hoesch-Museum in Düren as well as in Collection Martijn Sanders in Amsterdam. His work is characterized by the arrangement of colors, shapes and lines and it moves between figural and abstract compositions.
