Alberto Carneiro (b. 1937) The Portuguese sculptor Alberto Carneiro studied at the Escola de Artes Decorativas Soares dos Reis in Porto and then at the Escola António Arroio in Lisbon. A scholarship enabled him to stay at Saint Martin's School of Art in London, where he studied under Anthony Caro and Philip King, from 1968 to 1970. His encounter with young emerging artists revealed him British Minimal and Conceptual Art. Based on these first impressions, Alberto Carneiro developed his own approach which is clearly related to Land Art and often creates a universal discourse between nature, art and body. In the 1970s and 1980s Carneiro taught at various institutions and received the art prize AICA in 1985. His works have already been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, including a show at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto in 2013. Besides, his works were also on display at the Venice Biennale in 1975. (fea) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
