Unique for Wayne, we get to experience his figures and their interactions in a room. Keeping true to his typical color palate this piece is calm and serene yet detailed and expressive. This color lithograph from the Physiology of Taste Series was created in 1994 and is signed and date by Thiebaud in the lower margin. The print measures 20 x 16 inches and is framed and matted. Wayne Thiebaud (AMERICAN, 1920) Born in Sacramento in 1920, Thiebaud's career as a painter, draftsman, and printmaker from 1959 to 2014, mostly still lifes of pies, cakes, desserts, candies but also woman in bathing suits. Thiebaud uses heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects, and the well-defined shadows characteristic of advertisements are almost always included. From 1949 to 1950, Thiebaud studied at the San Jose State University and from 1950 to 1953 at the California State University in Sacramento. He had his first solo exhibition at the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento. Currently Wayne Thiebaud lives and works in California.
